Wesley
T. Bishop is a native of New Orleans. He
attended Southern University at New Orleans where he
received his B.S. in Criminal Justice. While at
Southern he served as Student Body President. He
earned his Masters of Public Administration from the
University of Mississippi, where he finished first in
his class. He received his Juris Doctorate from Ohio
State University Law School. While at Ohio State
University he was recognized for his outstanding
oratorical skills and awarded the outstanding orator
award. He is a graduate of the Loyola University
Institute of Politics, as well as, the Metropolitan
Area Committee Leadership Academy.
Mr.
Bishop is Chairman and Assistant Professor of Criminal
Justice at Southern University at New Orleans. He was
formerly a law clerk with the Orleans Parish District
Attorney’s Office and the New Orleans Legal
Assistance Corporation. He served as legislative
intern with the New Orleans City Council Research
Office and with the Washington, D.C. office of U.S.
Senator John Breaux. He served as chairman of the New
Orleans Health Corporation, Vice Chairman, Orleans
Parish Democratic Executive Committee, Board of
Directors, N.O.J.A. Governors Advisory Committee on
Equal Opportunities, American Bar Association,
Louisiana State Bar Association, National Bar
Association, Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, Alpha
Phi Alpha Fraternity. Mr. Bishop was chosen
Outstanding Alumnus of Southern University at New
Orleans in 1997 and was selected by Ebony Magazine as
one of the Top 30 Leaders Under 30 nationwide. He is
an active member of Beacon Light Baptist Church.
Mr.
Bishop’s areas of expertise include: Criminal
